ACO 2020

As part of the Australian Chamber Orchestra's 2020 season, 6 visual artists worked with an ACO musician to interpret a piece of music from the forthcoming programme. I worked on this piece based on Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony. Dmitri Shostakovich's life under the Stalin's Soviet regime was one of constant fear and threat. ACO violinist Ilya Isakovich describes his music as always coming "from a place of suffering". This piece attempts to communicate the anxiety and terror caused by the ever looming presence of the Soviet state.
